This daybed is designed for residential lounge areas, inspired by an ancient Greek and Roman furniture "κλίνη"- Kline. It blends classic aesthetics with modern design to create a functional and stylish piece for open, casual spaces.
Reviving Aristocratic Elegance: Modern Interpretation of Classical Reclining Furniture
In ancient Rome and Greece, only the wealthy could afford finely crafted furniture, making it a symbol of status. The act of reclining became an iconic representation of nobility. My goal is to translate this symbolism into a modern setting and revive its significance.

Timeless Elegance: Modern Daybed Inspired by Ancient Classics
The design concept involves analyzing elements and features of both Greek and Roman klinai to derive inspiration and inform future choices. Ultimately, the symmetrical design from the Roman side was selected, while dimensions and base features were inspired by the Greek klinai.
From Concept to Prototype: Precision Through Prototyping
The design was developed through scaled and life-sized models, allowing exploration of ergonomics and appearance before final production. The process involved communication with both feedback providers and engineers to ensure the creation of a functional prototype.
