CURA CUT: Enhancing Kitchen Tools for Arthritis Relief

CURA CUT is designed for individuals with minor disabilities, specifically arthritis. The goal is to address the challenges these users face during kitchen tasks and explore modifications to traditional kitchen tools that can enhance their usability and solve these problems.

Empathy in Design: Simulating Arthritis to Enhance Accessibility

To design for arthritis, I practiced empathy by wearing thick gloves to simulate limited dexterity during kitchen tasks. While not fully replicating the symptoms, it gave insight into how patients with disabilities might approach tasks differently from healthy individuals

concept

Concept sketch and rendering.

I can quickly translate ideas into concept sketches. Here is a series of hand-rendered marker drawings created to explore potential aesthetics and forms for later prototyping.

Design Solutions: Storyboarding to Address Arthritis Challenges

A storyboard is created to identify research problems, followed by a proposed solution presented in a similar format, with final ideas developed to address the three stages of arthritis, focusing on the mid-level stage for further prototyping.
